Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British-American sitar player and music artist. She's the smallest woman and was the first person to be awarded an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is one of the Indian young sitar star. She is a scholar and daughter of the famous Ravi Shankar. Born in 1982, she was raised in London. The first few years of her life were split between London in London and New Delhi. When she arrived in New Delhi, she made her debut when she was only thirteen years old. Later she moved into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Even though she's very young, Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording. She performs regularly with her dad and has done so for a long time years. In 1998, she released Anourag as her first solo record. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. Stage performances are a important aspect of her life. She has performed in a variety of major venues all over the world. Anoushka's career does not only involve music. Bapi The love of my life is an illustrated biography that she composed in 2002. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent much of her childhood in London and Delhi after which she moved to California where she attended high school. When she was nine years old, she started studying music with her father. She made her first on the sitar 4 years later, at the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. Anoushka was able to gain numerous valuable experience by accompanying her dad on his world tour. It included performances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and making recordings together with George Harrison. She was the youngest woman to win the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament to recognize her talent and musicianship within performing in the Asian Arts.
